Dry Extract vs Liquid - Old vs New
3 gallons water 3.3lbs Briess Pilsen LME or 2.7lbs DME 1/2oz goldings 60min US-05
During blind (yes, blindfolded) taste tests of the wort it was very easy to pick out the old LME. Tasted thicker/burnt. Blind taste tests of the finished beer were not as noticeable, but the old LME still tasted off. Had a caramel flavor, but not a good one. Like a bad Scottish Ale.
